Domaine de la Chevalerie 2009 “Cassiopee,” Bourgueil, Loire Valley, France
$15.00 at UVA
In the Loire, the region of Bourgueil’s wines often lack generosity, and certainly are more rustic than its neighbor Chinon, but in 2009, pure Cabernet Franc pleasure comes at a bargain price: $15 if you head to this domaine. And it comes with a pretty label too. Inside is velvet, crushed blackberry, grip and a splash of fresh acidity, the perfect choice to convince Franc haters to show a little love.
