Babich 2009 Chardonnay, Unoaked, Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand(13.5%)
$12 at Cabrini Wines
Maybe the white clothing is retired for the season, but thankfully, white wine continues past Labor Day. The temperature might not yet call for biggest and richest, this ripe unoaked Chardonnay might be just the perfect pick. A bright, young yellow wine with a nose full of mature pear, apple and melon plus a bit of tropical fruit. Almost creamy, the intense fruits are tempered with good acidity. Great with a fruit-stuffed roasted chicken.
